Sporty Christmas Wishes

With the colder weather and the dusting of snow, my thoughts are turning to joys of Christmas! Although I don't believe the gifts are the true joy, I am a child at heart and love toys! Runner Leana posted her wish list and asked her fellow bloggers what was on their wish list! This Christmas I will be picking and buying for myself, from the list I made for Santa. I should know this Thursday how much I can spend!

I would like to have a GPS for running. In checking out the different kinds and peoples' opinions, Garmin is the way to go. I am leaning towards the Forerunner 205 but not exactly positive on that just yet. I need to investigate a tiny bit more.

I would like to have a brand new helmet for biking! The one I have been wearing is about 18 years old and drives me nuts! It's itchy it's hot it's ugly! I would like a nice breezy one that somewhat matches the color of my bike.

When I hit the snowshoe trails and hiking trails, I would absolutely love to have one of these. It's a Garmin 60CSX with lots of bells and whistles! I like knowing elevation, direction, distance, being able to look at maps, all that kind of stuff when I'm out there in the wilderness. I would never have to worry about getting lost and would feel safer going off the beaten tracks!

Now I just have to make sure I am on my best behavior and not naughty!
What is on your wish list for Christmas this year!

  1. Nice wish list! I absolutely love my Garmin and use it for hiking and biking as well as for riding. Yes....I'm a total type A and I like to know my distance and elevation gains on a hike! I hope Santa is good to you!

Just a note about the bike helmet, I'm not sure where I read it, but apparently you should replace your bike helmet every two years or so, even if they haven't been in an accident, because the styrofoam starts to break down.

  2. That looks like a good list. Runners' Lounge (runnerslounge.com) has an interesting article on what runners really want (http://www.runnerslounge.com/knowhow/index.cfm?id=44&ArticleID=98398aeb-4252-43f9-a33d-8c82d50976ce). It's a good source to share with non-running friends at Christmas. My daughter (Go Holly Go) just got a Garmin 405, which I think she really likes! Great post. Doug

  3. Great list. I need to investigate the Garmins. My wife has the 305, I think, and loves it. I need to sneak it out for a test drive one day. ;)

  4. Leana,

    Which Garmin do you have?

I didn't know that about bike helmets! Thank you for sharing. A new helmet is a must!

  6. To answer your question, Alex IS short for Alexander. Oh, and get this... my youngest daughter is named Alexandra (we call her Allie for short).

  7. I have a 205 (one in your pic) and I wouldn't be without it. Best money I ever spent! I got mine back in 2006. and it's still going strong (touch wood) There is a brand new one out that is even more compact. There have only been a couple of occasions that it has failed to get a signal but it is mostly spot on.

  8. Nice wish list!! However, I would go with a newer style of Garmin. They are a fun gadget to have!

Now, you just have to stay on Santa's good list LOL

  9. A garmin is so great! I could not run without it anymore... which is sometime a problem cause these toys are fragile! LOL

In 2 years I'm at my 2nd garmin. Their prices have really come down, you should splurge! You deserve it =)
