Layers, Layers & Layers

When it's minus 29C with a windchill of minus 39C, it's all about many layers and making it a short and quick run! I think I look pretty scary in this shot! Sometimes I even wear sunglasses, then I look really scary. If you look closely, you will see the polar bear on the front of my hat and one of the side of my gaitor. J Mo's and D Mo's Mom made this set for me a few years back and it is perfect for conditions like today! It's made of fleece, it allows me to breathe through the material plus keeps me warm.

Three layers were enough for what I think was about a 4 km run. I ended up sticking to residential roads that were paved and sidewalks that were clear so it was a round-about run and not my normal from home run. Going from the sidewalks to the roadways was quite an ankle workout and that slowed me down a bit. Boy, I wish I knew exactly how far I ran. If I had a Garmin, I would know for sure!

  1. Yikes, stay warm girl!! Glad you have your tree up and you have so many nice memories that go along with it!

Didn't make to the Sanata Shuffle here this year! We usually all dress up as an elf, reindeer, Mrs. Claus or something or other.

It was very icy and cold and well over 5K from what I hear...yours looks like it was really fun!!!

  2. ok this would be the point at which I should say I will never complain about running in the cold again, but it's a lie. I will however learn from your layers!

  3. Hmm, now I feel really guilty for chickening out on my run this morning! Our temp was only about -10 with windchill, but I was too afraid to drive on the icy road to get to the run club!

  5. I am impressed! And I thought we had it cold! Good for you for getting out there. I like your fleece head/face cover - I always borrow my son's Buff, which is sort of similar.

  6. Now that sounds cold. I wonder how I would cope with that chill factor! Still would give it a try in trade for damp wetness all year round!!

  7. Wow. I am speechless. No, wait...I knew you were tough, but I must say, you are one super-tough homegirl. BTW, You look "HOT" (as in looking great AND looking toasty warm too) in that fleece wrap.

  8. Alexandra, you are quite brave to venture out in sub-zero temperatures! I think we are getting a bit of the cold weather which you experienced on Sunday, today! It is forecast to be in the 30's here tonight - brrrr. Cold for the Gulf Coast of Texas!
