Run for the Cure

Running the CIBC Run for the Cure is always an amazing experience! I will never forget that! When I looked out my window this morning and saw a dirty mess of snow and rain and sleet, I just thought UGH! I had to get ready and get out the door though! I had to be there, no matter what! Not because I paid the entry fee. Not because I was meeting a coworker. Not because the major sponsor is my employer. I had to be there to show my support for HOPE!
I have run in support of many causes but none make me feel the way I do when I run for this cause! I stood at the start line with a heavy heart! I bounced lightly on my toes to loosen my leg muscles and to try and stay warm and keep my mind distracted. I wanted the race to hurry up and start because I knew when it did that 1 minute later I would be well on my way to that high! The count down started and I was able to voice out loud the numbers 10, 9, 8, 7, 6...nothing would come out after that! I got a lump in my throat! I needed to run! I did! I got high! I finished light-hearted! It's an amazing feeling afterwards to know I ran for HOPE! It was easy to tell others felt the same. I enjoyed checking out the head dress today. Mine was pretty simple. Every one found their own unique way to show their support. Considering I have not raced since running the marathon on May 31st, I am pleased with today's outcome. My 305 measured a distance of 5.2km, in a time of 29:49 at a pace of 5:46 min/km.
