Run for the Cure

Running the CIBC Run for the Cure is always an amazing experience! I will never forget that! When I looked out my window this morning and saw a dirty mess of snow and rain and sleet, I just thought UGH! I had to get ready and get out the door though! I had to be there, no matter what! Not because I paid the entry fee. Not because I was meeting a coworker. Not because the major sponsor is my employer. I had to be there to show my support for HOPE!
I have run in support of many causes but none make me feel the way I do when I run for this cause! I stood at the start line with a heavy heart! I bounced lightly on my toes to loosen my leg muscles and to try and stay warm and keep my mind distracted. I wanted the race to hurry up and start because I knew when it did that 1 minute later I would be well on my way to that high! The count down started and I was able to voice out loud the numbers 10, 9, 8, 7, 6...nothing would come out after that! I got a lump in my throat! I needed to run! I did! I got high! I finished light-hearted! It's an amazing feeling afterwards to know I ran for HOPE! It was easy to tell others felt the same. I enjoyed checking out the head dress today. Mine was pretty simple. Every one found their own unique way to show their support. Considering I have not raced since running the marathon on May 31st, I am pleased with today's outcome. My 305 measured a distance of 5.2km, in a time of 29:49 at a pace of 5:46 min/km.

  1. Congratulations for your race for the cure. During the race the weather was always snowy.

I hope you will have a nice running time next week, without snow and rain clouds. :-)

  2. Oh a race in snow - that would be fun, as long as it wasn't too slippery. You did great, have you been able to do much running with all your hiking this summer?

  3. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm following the half-marathon programm although I think I would need more up hill training. What's your next race?

During last Summer I took the photo you mentioned and I posted it the 15th of September 2009. Consider that cluster-pine, which is a mediterranean tree, is green every month of the year. On the contrary, the photos of your landscapes posted the 21th of September 2009 clearly show Autumn's colours.

    Regards
